Drupal 7 Multi Sites Configuration - Book

Recently I got the chance to read Drupal 7 Multi Sites Configuration book. It's been quite a good book for those who are not aware of Drupal's multi site feature.

Drupal 7 Multi-Sites Configuration will teach you how to host several websites on a single copy of Drupal. You will learn how to create different sites, each with its own domain, content, and theme. This valuable information will help you to save time by managing modules and sharing them across several sites as well as administering your sites all in one place.




I liked Advanced Multi-sites chapter and learned some new things there. It talks about ways to implement shared authentication, shared content, shared structure and searching across multi-sites.

Custom MySQL Database to Drupal 8 Migration

There are thousands of websites which are using MySQL as database. If we need to migrate data from Websites, which are using MySQL database, to Drupal 8 then we can use this blog post as starting point. We have a sample MySQL Database 'mysql_custom_db' which contains two tables, users and pages. The data in 'users' table looks like below,   The data in 'pages' table looks like below, As all the fields in 'users' table, from source database, will map to User entity in Drupal 8 site so we don't need make any changes there.
